IN MEMORY OF ERIC YUICHI OSHIRO

Eric is the son of Betty Oshiro, the Memorial Square to the left. Eric was a stoic, soft-spoken man who quietly helped wherever he could. He preferred not to call attention to himself. “Your typical IT person,” his wife Lori said. But there was a quiet strength beneath that soft-spoken demeanor, a virtue he passed on to his two sons, Ryan and Steven. When Betty died, her grandsons were able to say their goodbyes to her through the hospital door, but Eric was not because he too was dying of COVID-19, after taking care of his mother for the last year. It was that final visit to the ER with his mother Betty, that both Eric and Lori caught the virus. Lori survived and Eric did not. Until then, Eric was healthy, played golf, the guitar and loved to listen to NPR.
