IN MEMORY OF BILL HEANEY - 1945 - 2020

IN MEMORY OF BILL HEANEY - 1945 - 2020

This Memorial Square comes to us from Vivian in Montana in honor and memory of her husband, Bill Heaney, who died of COVID-19. Vivian writes:

Dr. William Heaney, PhD.  1945 - 2020.

Bill was an anthropologist. He did his study in Migration in Papua New Guinea. He loved fly fishing. He always had a camera around his neck for photos. He was interested in people and TALKING to people.

Bill and I were married for 27 1/2 years. He was the father of 3 - Chris, Jess and Doug - and the grandfather of 2.

Always "Just one more" -- one more cast, one more photo, one more book, one more dish of ice cream.

Thank you for doing this.

We will honor and remember Bill on the Covid Memorial Quilt.

IN MEMORY OF MICHAEL DENNIS WRIGHT - 1951 - 2021

IN MEMORY OF MICHAEL DENNIS WRIGHT - 1951 - 2021

This Memorial Square comes to us from Marie in North Carolina in honor and memory of her husband, Michael Dennis Wright, who died of COVID-19. Marie writes:

* Michael was a Carolina Gamecock (South Carolina) fan, and their colors are garnet and black
* Hobbies: Golf, deep sea fishing in addition to fishing in a nearby river or lake, loved football (especially, Carolina Gamecocks and Carolina Panthers).
* Loved music, he played percussion instruments.  His favorite band was the Allman Brothers Band.
* He was so proud of his children, Hunter and Kelly.
* He adored his Pomeranian, Charlie.

An excerpt from Michael's "Celebration of Life" program:

Michael passed away on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. day. As he was
keenly interested in current events and held a deep belief in equality and
fairness of his fellow citizens, this date was so fitting. Michael was a
dreamer and a visionary. He was always developing new ideas and
programs to help people achieve their aspirations. It was his hope that, in
the near future, everyone has the opportunity to develop the skills to
excel in life.

Michael and Marie, true soulmates and known by their friends as the
“M&M’s”, reside in Statesville, NC. Michael was a consummate extrovert, always optimistic, outgoing and had a great love for life. Strong in his faith in the Lord, he believed in the power of love and welcomed friendships of all people. He was a true
gentleman and made sure to treat others with respect and conviviality.
His presence filled a room and his quick smile, sharp wit, loud laugh and
compassionate nature radiated to people and animals alike, particularly
his beloved Pomeranian, Charlie. Michael’s larger than life personality
will be forever missed.

We will honor and remember Michael on the Covid Memorial Quilt.

IN MEMORY OF EDDIE GARDNER - 2020

This Memorial Square comes to us from Avery in Arizona in honor and memory of her grandfather, Eddie Gardner, who died of COVID-19. Avery writes:

I was absolutely touched when I learned about this project, absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much for this idea and the continuation of it, it really means a lot to all that have been affected. I was hoping to have a Square created for my late grandfather.

His name was Eddie Gardner and my family and I lost him in 2020. He was always helping others and going out of his way for people in need. He was the sweetest soul and we're all still missing him strongly.

I was hoping the Square could have a guitar since playing his was a favorite hobby, as well as his name. I don't have a color palette in mind so that is open.

We will honor and remember Eddie on the Covid Memorial Quilt.
