Frederick Harris, my Dad, was an amazing human. He excelled in athletics, and was even scouted by and given a jersey to be on the Red Sox, as a die hard Massachusetts sports fan, this was his dream. Unfortunately, he was drafted, and ended up serving his country in Vietnam for 2 years. He worked for countless years at UMass Amherst, where he gained hundreds of friends with his kind smile and “gift of gab.” He loved meeting and talking to people. He was very included in UMass athletics and would always be seen on the basketball floor watching the game alongside the team. He loved this. He was a staple of our community of Northampton, Massachusetts. He loved going for his daily outings and doing his little “routine” He was loved. He was married to his wife Judy, of 49 years. She misses her soul mate terribly. My brother and I miss him, too. As well as hundreds of other people who have felt this great loss. I will do my best to live my life as best I can in honor of him, and continuing to be the kind, warm, friendly individual that he was. He was only 70 years old, and should still be here.
