This Memorial Square comes to us from Eileen in Pennsylvania in memory of Joseph Mecca who died of COVID-19. Eileen writes: Joe was the father to six children and the proud grandfather to seven grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Eleanore, made a hobby of photography, and was quite a cook. He loved to experiment with tweaking breakfast and dinner recipes, as well as baking. He truly enjoyed working on various types of puzzles and brain teasers and was an avid Jeopardy watcher. Joe was a proud veteran of the US Navy, assigned to the USS Valley Forge aircraft carrier as an electrician’s mate during the Korean War. Joe always had a warm smile and a kind word to say for everyone that crossed his path. Joe passed away from COVID-19 on April 10th, 2020. We will honor and remember Joe on the Covid Memorial Quilt.
